There's a lot going on in the legal world at the moment and lawyers being lawyers, don't always make it easy to understand.
Mylegal is a key forum specially set up to improve the public's understanding of all that's going on. Our key concern is over what we call 'social welfare law'. It covers a multitude of issues like advice on housing, helping people sort out their financial worries, getting benefits sorted, dealing with family matters and employment rights; - it covers many other things too.
Although Mylegal doesn't provide advice, it can help pin point you to places where you can get help. Find out more here....

Mylegal is here to engage with the public and to help you understand some of the major concerns facing essential advice services like Citizens Advice Bureau, Law Centres and all social welfare law providers.
At the moment government cuts backs are seriously threatening the future of our services and ultimately it's the public who aren't really being told what's going on. That's why we've called part of our campaign the 'SHUSH' campaign; you can find out more about what's being kept quiet here...

Mylegal is hooked into major National Campaigns, the two main ones being the Justice for All Campaign run by a coalition of advice agencies including Citizens Advice. The other being the Law Society 'Sound Off For Justice' campaign.
Read about the campaigns and how strong the opposition is to Government's plans to abolish the Community Legal Service. This was set up in 1999 and has allowed thousands of people to access decent advice by paid professionals who are passionate about the service they deliver, an average salary for a paid professional in this field is £25,000 per year. It involves long hours and a real commitment to helping people sort out very challenging problems.

We'd like to hear more from the public, if you've been helped by advice agencies and would like to give us some support, why not write about them and tell us of your experiences..

This week we've got some excellent videos on Mylegal, they show some of the evidence sessions before a House of Commons committee in the scrutiny stages of the legal aid, sentencing & punishment of offenders bill (LASPO), why not browse through them and have a look?
Here's one of our videos by Lord Bach, he speaks passionately about three key reasons why legal aid is so important, it's well worth watching.

Thank you for your support and remember even if you've never been helped by legal aid, the chances are you'll know someone who has, the overwhelming evidence is that of those we help, people's lives have been improved as a result.
