Today Macmillan launch a benefits chat-room to help Cancer sufferers and make sure they're on the right benefits. Macmillan work closely with CAB. It's certainly the case that among many of the cases we see at South Hams CAB, we see a fair few cancer suffers who have been through the indignity of the Employment & Support Allowance treadmill. It's ridiculous to suggest that those going through treatment don't need support. Cancer sufferers try and keep a positive outlook to help them through; - it's perverse that their positivity is often used by the DWP to suggest that they have full capability and need no help to lead normal lives. Here's a link to the Macmillan chatroom.. community.macmillan.org.uk/blogs/community_news/archive/2011/06/09/welfare-reform-amp-benefits-advice-web-chat-wednesday-15th-june.aspxJoin Macmillan and protest against these welfare reforms.

Contacted local MP and asked her - via her secretary and email - to vote against these dangerous reforms. Was quite impressed to hear Ed Milliband actually speak up in Prime Minister's Question Time in support of cancer sufferers; - about time someone did! I also updated Macmillan contact on progress.
