This is a promo for 'Sheffield Against the Cuts' - check out this brilliant campaign here:
sheffieldanticuts.wordpress.comIt was set up to support lots of groups who are against cuts to jobs and public services. There is a now a diverse group of people full of firepower - getting ready for a busy month...
The highlight is the Lib Dem conference on 11th and 12th March. Costing around £2 million to keep them all safe with the protection of South Yorkshire's finest, we intend to remind them what that money (and the rest) should be spent on with a peaceful demonstration outside the conference venue.
Top actions for March:
Friday 4th March is the demo against the Council Budget. Assemble 12pm at Sheffield Town Hall.
Saturday 5th March - campaigners are organising a flash mob in town to oppose the Lib Dem budget and promote the demos on the 12th. Meet 12pm at the Town Hall and if you can print off the 'Nick Clegg Mask' which is now available on the website here: sheffieldanticuts.wordpress.com/publicity/
Saturday 12th March - demo. Meeting at Devonshire Green at 11 am ish. Speakers from many worthy places and a chance to get the attention of Nick Clegg from behind his security railing (as well as the media)
Please spread the word and come if you can. Turnout on the 12th in particular should be good. All the debating in the world is only good to those that join in and listen to it, it's proper voices of protest out there in the streets which will be most loudly heard. If you're from Sheffield, join in and add to the increasing voice of discontent against these cuts, cuts which are hurting all sectors of society - except for those who tell us these cuts are needed - they'll not feel the pain.
