News is breaking this morning of how public sector workers will face massive changes in their pension arrangements. Following the Hutton Review the planned changes are aimed at making public sector workers work longer by upping the retirement age, they will receive less because their pension will be based on average earnings rather than final pay and they will be expected to make greater contributions towards their pensions. What with the public sector facing massive job cuts accross the country and now this - has government declared the public sector worker as public enemy number one?
Here's BBC Radio 4 - where you can listen to how a teacher has 'sleepless nights' worrying over her pension.......

These changes will hit many very hard - particularly those who have remained in the sector for many years - often working hard and up the ladder to more senior positions. It will be impossible for many to make greater contributions when people are already struggling to make ends meet. This will hit thousand of policemen, NHS staff and other public sector workers. It has been called a 'high risk strategy' this morning on BBC Breakfast. Isn't it extraordinary how the government criticise Labour for everything - and yet adopt adopt Labour's Hutton report when it comes to pension reform? Can anyone find the link to BBC Breakfast this morning? - Please post it here....
