With Bolton CAB's guidance this gentleman was able to get back on track with his bills
"I was high in debt with an electricity bill. I was advised to join First Step Scheme where if I paid £75 for a certain period (10 months) I would be rewarded as I was still using electricity. I got £120 credit at the end of that period and the supplier reduced my monthly payment to £26.00 per month. When the Social Security took me off the sick and refused to give me any money Bolton CAB talked to them on my behalf and I was given Income Support. If I had not received this help I would have had no electricity as I had no money. I would not have been able to pay my bills and buy food as well. There was no where else I could have received this help, come offices like the DSS do not seem to measure the consequences of being homeless, hungry etc".
