Jonathon Djanogly announced on the BBC this morning how couples who want to divorce are going to have to attend compulsory mediation sessions first from the 6th April this year. Lawyers are saying it's just a move to cut the legal aid bill!Isn't this starting to sound like a minister on a mission, playing god to ensure married couples stay married? It also surely undermines the level of professionalism by committed family lawyers who generally would always suggest mediation first. What Mr Djanogly doesn't seem to have thought about is how the prospect of mediation is likely to put victims of domestic violence off from taking the first step to divorce a partner they may well live in absolute fear of. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12548506
