On Mylegal we're about keeping the public up to date on what's going on. One of the things we're doing is running a rolling log of the effects the cuts in general (not just legal aid - but local authority - project funding - etc too) are having on organisations. Okay, the advice sector got a reprieve on Financial Inclusion Funding - because it's been extended by an extra year until March 2012. But the year will be up before you know it; advice agencies need to budget now for the future - so any sigh of relief on the extended funding is one which is short lived. There are cuts being made right across the country, some councils are being responsible and safeguarding funding;- they should be highlighted - it shows up inconsistency across the boundaries if we can show council 'A' makes cuts, whereas a few miles away council 'B' doesn't. It's important to highlight and praise those councils who see the importance of the work we do - that's what 'localism' is all about. So if you come across any media announcement over cuts or extra funding in your area, then let's have them on here! Just post the link to the story and I'll pick up some commentary unless of course you want to have your say - after all that's why Mylegal exists - to give you all a voice, so let's be hearing it. You can post it into the following link.....mylegal.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=frontline&action=display&thread=132Or create a thread of your own.
It all goes to good use as we can use the information to keep track of what's happening to advice agency funding from our perspective - the perspective of the public rather than politicians.
