Luckily we have a very active and multi-skilled trustee board who form our management committee. They are very aware of the importance of the work we do on our Legal Aid contract; we regularly update them on how the contract is doing by way of regular reports and attendances at our board meetings. The importance of keeping them in the picture is crucial at the moment.
This month, I steered away from the usual contract figures and so forth and plastered my report with a prominent word, the word 'Campaign'. The board was updated on our visit to the Justice for All launch at Westminster last Wednesday, I also threw in some links to make it easier for everyone to access all the right information. Mylegal, Justice for All, Law Society, and the Ministry of Justice.
There's probably a wealth of talent on your board, some may have good links with your MP's and they'll like to get involved. We are all busy and it makes sense to utilise as many willing hands to help participate with this campaign. Your Trustees will probably have some good ideas on how to spread the word and make this campaign an effective one. Get your board - on board and you'll up the profile. There's loads that can be done to get this some well deserved prominence, yes it's time consuming, but unless we get this off the ground, we'll find that is something we have all to much of.
There is no room for complacency on this campaign, this Government is on a mission and we must show that we are too.
