Dear Advocacy in Wirral,
It is something of a miracle that started with your organisation and has changed my life forever.
In 2005 I was homeless and suffering from bi polar disorder.I had no money,no place to live, and nowhere to turn for help.
I remember the day I came to your office as if it was yesterday. My mother came with me because I was very ill at the time.
Steve sat with me and helped me fill out my disability living allowance forms and incapacity benefit forms.
From 2005 until 2008 I was still homeless but in 2009 I travelled to Essex and met a lady who helped me get work and
we got a flat together.
I was able to control my medical condition with the right medication and got back into work after four years of illness.
We got married had a little boy and I progressed through work and now work as a project worker with homeless adults
some of whom have mental health issues like me.
I am now also studying for qualifications in social care and housing.
When I tell people my story I always say to them that without Advocacy in Wirral my life would have never recovered.
My wife thanks you,I thank you and above all my two year old son thanks you for helping his dad get his life back.
Mental illness robbed me of everything,my home, job, security but thanks to yourselves the support I was given helped
restore all the parts of my life that I lost.
I am determined that my work with the homeless will be made all the more easy when I think of the inspiration that you
gave me to help those who have no voice,no hope and nowhere to turn.
Thankyou!!!
