Subject to a DDoS attack: MyLegal access problems

You may be experiencing difficulties loggin in or viewing content on ilegal and MyLegal. For info, I have just sent the following out as an email Alert that explains why:

The servers that host ilegal and MyLegal are currently under large-scale online DDoS attack

This has been continuing during the night and another concerted attempt to bring the server and our forums down has been made this morning. This now appears to be resolved although, should the attacks may continue, you may temporarily be unable to access ilegal or MyLegal

A distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. The most recent publicised example of such an attack was in respect of Wikileaks. We have no information at this time who is perpetrating the attacks but can say that everything is being done to defend against them

ProBoards think they've got this sorted out now so everything should be working fine. If you are getting any slow page-load speeds or other problems then please try back later - it's still very possible that the problems will resurface over the next few days

It takes a lot of resources to perform an effective DDoS attack and a considerable amount of technical wherewithal so, if we find out any more info on who was behind it and who tried to bring the forum down, we'll let you know

At this time we are focusing on dealing with the issue at hand rather than trying to identify if we or a forum in particular is the target. The nature of the attack keeps changing which is why the performance is up and down. We are needing to stay on our toes to stay ahead of it and minimizing impact.

Certain pages on MyLegal are still slow to load but hopefully all should be back to normal soon
