Mr P and his partner have a 6 month old baby and low income. They came in to Bolton Citizens Advice Bureau having been refused Child Benefit and living only on Job Seekers Allowance. They had rent arrears and their landlord was seeking possession. The CAB were able to arrange to put claims in for Child Benefit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Tax Credits, all of which they were entitled to. Being Hungarian nationals and struggling with the language barrier was an added disadvantage to this family but with the CAB's help they were guided through the numerous forms and procedures and helped to stop their impending eviction.
