Mylegal is run by people seriously committed to preventing social injustice and cuts to essential funding which seriously puts at risk the services which help you.
That's why we want to hear your ideas as to how we can help you in the best way possible.
Mylegal is run by people who are all about standing up and speaking up on your behalf.
Want to know more?
A bit about Mylegal
Mylegal is part of the Ilegal network which is the largest online forum for legal aid practitioners in the Country with over 1,500 members who include people who work in social welfare law advice centres, solicitors and barristers as well as representatives from the leading advice agencies and law centres including national campaign bodies like Justice for All and the Sound off for Justice who are fighting against the withdrawal of legal aid.
Whilst Ilegal engages with professional practitioners, Mylegal is here to directly engage with you; - the general public, the people we work hard for and protect against social injustice.
Although many of the Ilegal/Mylegal members are staunch campaigners, Mylegal does not directly campaign, we leave that to the campaigning bodies. However, Mylegal is an individual campaigning resource for anyone involved in fighting against damaging cuts in the social welfare sector.
We think Mylegal should be one of your first ports of call for lots on information on how to campaign effectively, we've got a wealth of knowledge from the people who actually work on the frontline and we think we are best placed to give others all the evidence they need to make powerful campaigns against social injustice. National campaigning bodies and even the press will often have a look at our forums to find out all the news from those on the frontline.
We really are an invaluable resource.
Our aim
How we see ourselves
We see our key aim or vision as highlighting the ever increasing threat of social injustice and to be able to do something to help those affected.
We need to promote our own plight over the risk of cuts to essential services like the CAB, law centres and advice agencies who all depend on funding, as without it we can't help you.
We want to engage with as many groups, organisations and individuals as possible via the Mylegal forum; - part of the Ilegal network. So individuals and organisations are all welcome to join us.
We want to help people contest the unfairness brought about by government reforms, particularly the welfare reform bill and other legislative changes which reduce people's rights to receive adequate support from the state.
What we want YOU to do
We know it's not easy, that's why we want to hear your views
We know its far from easy for some of you to stand up and speak up, for some of you that may well be an impossibility. We appreciate how difficult it may for some of you to phone around or send endless letters and emails out to the people who really need to listen in our fight against social injustice, that's why we do everything over the internet on the Mylegal forum, but we do a lot of work behind the scenes too.
As people who do the job on the frontline, we see many appalling examples of social injustice every day. If we're not on Mylegal, we're doing our day job as frontline advisers; - although sometimes we have to have to take off! But on the whole we're pretty much round the clock and we're well placed to listen; because that's what we do.
We want you to tell us more about your concerns, we're not an advice agency which can deal with individual enquiries, we also really want to hear of your experiences and especially how advice services may have helped you, maybe with winning a benefit appeal perhaps, or sorting out your finances, help you with a housing problems or in some cases we may just have helped by listening.
We also need to hear from people who haven't been able to get help, tell us why and where; - it may be because government cuts have already been made in your area.
